
The name Barangay Tominobo or Tomas Cabili is one of the many barangay whose origin remains unrevealed. Based on the research that conducted the barangay got its name to the late senator tomas cabili the first senator in republic of the Philippines that comes from Iligan City, Mindanao. Tomas L. Cabili was once a lawyer, journalist, educator and assemblyman from Lanao. Cabili, in any other case recognised as Sultan Dimasangkay – ko - Ranao, used to be born in Iligan, Lanao on March 7, 1903 to Guillermo Cabili and Epifania H. Lluisma.
And also the school Tomas Cabili National High School and Tomas Cabili Central School named to him because the land is owned by the Cabili's family and they give the property to the government to build a school in it.
He was a messenger in district Engineer’s Office, Lanao; Justice of the Peace of the 17th Municipal District of Lanao and Acting justice of the Peace of Dansalan, Lanao.
On behalf of Barangay Kagawad Feliciano L. Palos, the name of Barangay Tominobo changed into Barangay Tomas L. Cabili and approved on 1998 by the barangay council of Tominobo. And during the barangay assembly they presented it and passed without any objection.
